*note: surfing schedule is tide dependent and may begin as early as 5:30 AM. coffee bar is open every morning at 5:30am providing complimentary additional food outside of the family-style menu coffee, tea, homemade bread, fruit and granola.
Meet Your Teachers
Steve Cummings & Gina Shiotani
Steve and Gina are a California-based acro couple with a shared passion for movement, connection, and the joy found when friends & strangers rise together to pursue great heights. With over a decade of teaching and performing experience across festivals, studios, retreats, and events on six continents, they revel in the journey of awakening powers of flight in people around the world.
Gina, a former ballet dancer, channels her love of surf, yoga, and Pilates into a grounded, expressive, and body-aware teaching style. When it comes to health, wellness, and good technique, her toe point leads the way. Steve's background as an athlete and airborne paratrooper provides a foundation of power & precision, lightened up in years as a backpacking traveler, yoga seeker, and follower of the flying life. His open-hearted energy, tireless basing, and artful spotting skills help everyone to feel safe to explore.
Together Steve & Gina offer a robust range of styles and fun ways to play -- the flow of acro yoga, elegance of adagio, and striking dynamics of standing acrobatics. On the softer side, they delve deep in flying therapeutics…aka Steve's specialty, Thorapeutics.
More than the skills, what Steve & Gina love most is the community that blooms around shared movement — the bonds forged in laughter, shared successes, and the learning moments that lead to triumph. Memories of emotion will outlast any trick, and their teaching is rooted in curiosity, creativity, and collaborative connection.
Outside of acro, Steve moonlights as a writer, viking impressioniste, & collector of fallen stars. As for Gina, you can usually find her surfing, eating sushi, or playing in her garden. If you see them in the wild, say hi and prepare to fly!

Airport Pickup/Drop-off
We work with a professional transfer company that is safe, efficient, and very professional. Airport transfer from the International Managua airport (MGA) to Amaru takes 4 - 4.5 hours and can be organized at any time of the day or night if you cannot arrive for our set pickup times.
