BOOKING & DEPOSIT

We communicate via email and your booking will be valid, once the required deposit has been transferred to our bank account. Afterwards you will receive a confirmation e-mail, with the booking details. With the payment of the deposit, you agree to all the terms and conditions. The outstanding amount for your package will be auto-billed to your previous method of payment (ACH bank transfer or credit card) 5 days before your arrival to Amaru.

A 50% deposit of your overall booking is required to secure your place.


TWO

CANCELLATION & REFUND POLICY

Cancellations received 4 months or more before arrival date: your deposit will be refunded 100% minus a $100 booking fee.

Cancellations received 31 days and up to 4 months before arrival date: the deposit will not be refunded, but can be transferred.

We regret that any cancellations within 30 days or less are completely non-refundable.

RULES OF STAY

You must be 18 years of age and over to attend a retreat.

We may ask any participant or guest to forfeit their stay or place at the retreat at any time if the individual's behaviour is interrupting the retreat or other resort guests' stay.

Damages incurred to resort property will be billed directly to the guest. Fees may vary depending on the amount necessary to replace the damaged property or item (surfboards, motorbikes, furniture).

Please do not leave important personal belongings or valuables unsecured in your guest room. We do not provide safes in the rooms but are happy to place your important belonging in our safe in the hotel’s back office.

1. Where is Amaru Surf & Yoga Retreats?
We are located in Northwestern Nicaragua in the province of Chinandega. Our municipality is called El Viejo and is blessed with unbelievable natural beauty, some of the most laid back and friendly people on earth, perfect beaches and, of course, great and varied waves for surfing. The closest city is about an 40 minutes drive away (Chinandega).

2. Where is the closest ATM?
The closest ATM is located in El Viejo, a 35 minutes ride from Amaru.

3. What’s included in my stay?
Please go back to the stay page and you will find everything that’s included in your stay.

4. What are possible extra costs?

5. What payment methods do you accept?

6. What travel insurance do you recommend?
Our provider of choice is World Nomads. With it’s affordable rates this is the ideal travelers insurance company for your travels.

7. Do I need to tip in Nicaragua?
A 10% tip is the norm. Many individuals will leave an extra 5 to 10% for stand out service. It's very common for restaurants to add a 10% voluntary tip to your bill. This should not be confused with IVA, which is a 15% sales tax.

8. Do you have WIFI?
We offer WIFI around the communal area and in the rooms.

9. Do you offer hot showers?
Our showers only run with cold water.

10. What do I need to bring?

11. Can I bring something for the local community/ school?
YES!! Old clothes, shoes, sports equipment, school supplies etc.

12. Can I get medical support close by?
The private Teodoro A.S. Kint Clinc is a 20 minute drive from our property and the main Hospital Amocsa is located in Chinandega which is a 40 minute away.

13. What can I buy locally?
There are a few little shops in town with vegetables, fruits and basic toiletry. We have local artisans that also come and hold markets at our hotel grounds.

14. Can I store or prepare my own food?
No, as we offer your stay with all meals included. You get 3 meals a day (buffet style) and plenty of snacks and fruits in between.

15. Are there many mosquitos or bugs?
Yes but usually more during sunset. Make sure you bring a strong natural repellant.

16. When is the best time to visit?
Nicaragua’s dry season runs from November to May, with the highest temperatures felt in April and May. June and July are both great times to travel as the increase in rain brings new life to the flora and fauna and everything begins to blossom. The wet season continues through to October, although as with most tropical climates, these are short, sharp and usually dry up quickly.

17. What’s the average temperatures?
It’s around 83 °F or 30°C.

18. What voltage and plugs for charging my electronics?
The electrical outlets are US and run on 110v.

19. Is your beach suited for beginner surfers?
Yes, there are a bunch of options for beginners.

20. Do you rent motorbikes?
