Surfing the Boom isn’t for everyone. Our Surf School Package is perfect for those who are new to surfing or have limited experience. It is designed to establish a solid foundation. Our instructors will guide you through the basics, and teach you how to paddle, pop up, and catch a wave. We offer lessons in Spanish and English.

Paddle School

Let’s take it to the pool. By eliminating the waves, we make it easy to see, practice, and implement some easy tricks to make you more effective and efficient in the ocean. Jump in and let our coaches help you find more confidence and ease where every stroke counts.

Here are the topics we cover:

• Balance and body posture

• Stamina Stroke vs Sprint Stroke

• Using the S paddle

• Using Buoyancy to your advantage

• The no paddle take-off technique

• How to get through waves

• How to position yourself at the peak

Surf theory

They say 90% of surfing is understanding the ocean, and we want to turn any fear and uncertainty into a newfound respect and understanding. We draw from our years of experience and collegiate understanding of the sciences behind what makes waves and our boards move through the ocean.

Here are some topics we cover:

• Surf History: from Gods to GOATS

• Board design: How to choose your equipment

• Physics of fins: Explaining motion in the ocean

• Oceans & atmosphere: From wind to waves

• Mechanics of waves: bathymetry explained

• Reading forecasts: How to know before you go

• Etiquette and Respect: Get the Hawaiian breakdown.

Video Analysis

One of the best ways to improve your surfing is to review your sessions with professionals. Our in-house photographer records your sessions from the beach so that you and your coach can analyze your waves to help correct any bad habits and replace them with the good ones to help you progress faster.

The Amaru surf school is a multi-tiered level program that makes sure you are learning at the speed and skill set that is right for your progression. First time surfer

Level 1: Surfing Foundations    
For those who have never surfed before, or have a couple sessions under their belt and want to work on the necessary fundamentals to build a strong foundation for their surfing. Level 1 surfers will work with instructors in gentle waves with highlights of ocean safety, etiquette and theory in the lineup, as well as, the basic fundamentals of pop ups and riding their waves to the shore.

Beginner/Intermediate

Level 2: Advance Your Surf Skills 
Suited for surfers who can catch most of their own waves, but still need a little assistance from time to time. If you are a passionate surfer but maybe don’t live by the beach, this is a perfect refresher to help polish off the dust. Level 2 looks to advance and refine the skills you already have and make you more confident in their execution. Learning the art of wave selection as well as how to turn down the line and track for long rides are the highlights of this level. Choose level 2 if you are looking to improve your timing and precision so that you are catching your longest waves unassisted by the end of your week.

Intermediate

Level 3: Precision & Performance Training 
For surfers that are more experienced and can confidently catch their own waves and track down the line. In Level 3 our aim is to hone in on style, lines, and execution of more advanced maneuvers, including cutbacks, proper pumping, and turns. Level 3 surfers are seeking to refine techniques and elevate overall performance through the assistance of professional coaching and video analysis.

• Advanced Surf Theory: Physics of Surfing ( Board Design, Fin Design, Laminar Flow, and Evolution of Surfing )

• 1 x Basic Breath Training Class
