Why our Nicaragua Surf Resort is Perfect for Beginner Surfers

A Nicaragua surf trip may sound intimidating if you’re a new surfer. Nicaragua is home to celebrated world-class waves like the Boom, Playa Colorado, and Puerto Sandino. In Northern Nicaragua, travelers visit from all over the world to surf the Boom. When it comes to beach breaks, the Boom is as good as it gets. It’s fast, hallow, and consistent, but for new surfers, it can be incredibly dangerous. Fortunately for beginner and intermediate surfers, our Nicaragua surf resort is perfectly positioned on the sand between Central America’s best beach break (the Boom) and Northern Nicaragua’s best learning wave. Our Nicaragua Surf Resort Gives You Access to the Best Beginner Waves in the Region

Northern Nicaragua is known as one of the best surf destinations in the world. With year-round swell, a diverse wave selection, and warm water, it’s hard to beat a surf trip to Nicaragua. There’s far more to surfing Northern Nicaragua than chasing barrels at the Boom. We have dozens of waves for all levels of surfers, many of which are just a stone’s throw from our Nicaragua surf resort. For longboard lovers, Playa Nagualapa provides mellow, long rides perfect for nose riding. For surf lessons, we walk down the steps of our resort to surf the gentle waves of Aposentillo. For intermediate surfers, we head the many point breaks in the region that are perfect for practicing maneuvers.

Our Surf Instructors Go Above and Beyond

Our bilingual surf instructors will be with you every step of your surfing journey. From on the sand pre-lesson instructions to catching your first wave and beyond. Our Nicaragua surf resort is committed to creating lifelong surfers, not vacation photo ops. So, we’ll teach you proper technique, surf etiquette, and push you to progress during your stay.

Our Surf Theory Classes Give You the Tools You Need to Paddle Out

Too many surf resorts send new surfers out to lineups without any understanding of surf etiquette or surf theory. Our instructors don’t just give you the tools you need to catch waves and enjoy surfing, they also educate our guests in the ins and outs of surf etiquette. Your safety and the safety of those around you in the water is our top priority. Learning proper surf etiquette will allow you to paddle out to any lineup in the world, within your skill level, and understand where you need to be in the lineup to safely catch waves.

We Have Year-Round Surf

Unlike other seasonal destinations, Northern Nicaragua has year-round surf. While swell season technically falls during the rainy season, from May to September, there’s still tons of swell in the dry season (October-April). In fact, our favorite waves for both advanced surfers (the Boom) and beginner/ intermediate surfers (Nagualapa) works best with smaller swells. During the rainy season, our advanced and intermediate surfers travel by boat and car to various points and river mouth breaks that work best with a large swell, while our new surfers surf close by in the protected cove under our clifftop resort. During the dry season, we have optimal wind conditions with small to medium-sized swell that is perfect for learning and experiencing a variety of waves in the region. During the rainy season, our experienced surfer guests can experience the full power of the Pacific, while our new surfer guests surf picturesque, protected coves near our clifftop resort.
